About The Bay Hotel
Built in 1846, as a local working man’s pub, and formerly known as the Doctor Syntax Hotel, The Bay Hotel has undergone an impressive renovation blending old with new by adding strong architectural design elements.
The Bay Hotel is vibrant and contemporary, whilst keeping the urban inner-city aesthetic and traditional Australian pub values. The architecture and laid-back interior design are striking and at ease, while the impressive outdoor beer-garden is typically relaxed Australian. The venue has a seamless blend of casual and chic and although the surroundings may be considered high-end, there is no pretension with the food or service.
The Bay Hotel’s location on Sandy Bay Road is not unlike Brunswick or Fitzroy Streets in Melbourne in that it is the hub of outer city life. The people that comprise the local community are an eclectic blend of young and middle-age professionals, bohemians, students, the creative communities and those enjoying a fashionable inner-city lifestyle.
